Day 1

  1. Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport
  2. Our knowledgeable driver guide will meet you and help to double check your bags
  3. Transfer to Moshi town (45 minutes’ drive)
  4. At the hotel we will do gear check, backpack prep, group intro, guide briefing. Any missing climbing gear items can be rented.
  5. Dinner
  6. Night in a Panama Garden Resort (https://panamagardenresort.co.tz/ ) or Similar

Day 2

  1. A morning pre-climb briefing and introductions with our team
  2. Do not consume any caffeine or alcohol
  3. Breakfast at the hotel
  4. We’ll stop by the rental shop for anyone who needs personal gear.
  5. We’ll stop by the groceries shop (Diamox medicine for relief from altitude sickness symptoms).
  6. Transfer to Kilimanjaro Park's
  7. Eastern Gate: Marangu (1,860 m).
  8. Head guide arranges all necessary permits and registration for rescue and search services
  9. Hike to Mandara Hut’s 2,700 m through through coffee and banana plantations and then the rain forest (probability of rain showers is high, so bring a raincoat).
  10. Lunch box
  11. Drink often, a little at a time for a total daily intake of 4 litres minimum.
  12. Heed your body's warnings and promptly inform your guide of any adverse symptoms.
  13. Acclimatization discomfort often strikes at night, causing nausea and headaches due to lower oxygen levels.
  14. Maundi Krater is just nearby Mandara Hut, so you can go there for a short walk.
  15. Dinner at Mandara Hut.
  16. Night at Mandara Hut shelter. (Shared rooms & facilities. Electricity from sun batteries is available when the weather is sunny).
  17. We stretch our muscles to stay limber and ready for tomorrow’s trek.

Day 3

  1. Breakfast at Mandara Hut.
  2. Hiking from Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut (3,720 m).
  3. Panoramic views of Kibo and Mawenzi volcanoes upon arrival at Horombo.
  4. Lunch at Horombo Hut.
  5. Acclimatization hike towards Kibo Hut with 200 m altitude gain.
  6. Take acclimatization hikes seriously — they help prevent altitude sickness and improve summit success.
  7. Return to Horombo Hut after acclimatization hike.
  8. Dinner at Horombo Hut.
  9. Night at Horombo Hut shelter.

Day 4

This is an extra acclimatization day beyond the trek itinerary that is not included in the 7-day tour.
  1. Breakfast at Horombo Hut.
  2. Acclimatization hike towards Kibo Hut and back.
  3. Lunch at Horombo Hut.
  4. An optional walk around the area and photos of the Mawenzi volcanic cone.

Day 5

  1. Breakfast at Horombo Hut.
  2. Trek to Kibo Hut (4,700 m) — maintain a steady pace to conserve energy for summit day.
  3. Lunch at Kibo Hut.
  4. Rest and sleep as much as possible upon arrival.
  5. Avoid any strenuous activity and drink plenty of water.

Day 6

  1. Breakfast at Horombo Hut.
  2. Night departure from Kibo Hut (4,700 m) to begin summit trek.
  3. Ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) — moderate difficulty but physically demanding due to high altitude.
  4. Each pair is accompanied by a guide monitoring physical and mental condition.
  5. Optional visit to the glacier near Uhuru Peak after reaching the summit.
  6. Descent back to Kibo Hut, followed by a two-hour rest.
  7. Continue descent to Horombo Hut (3,720 m).
  8. 90% of mountain accidents happen during descent — step carefully and stay focused.
  9. Night at Horombo Hut.

Day 7

  1. Warm breakfast at Horombo Hut.
  2. Transfer back to the hotel.
  3. Presentation of commemorative summit certificates at our office.
  4. Group gathering to celebrate and share impressions in the guestbook.
  5. Final descent to Kilimanjaro National Park exit: Marangu Gate (1,860 m).
  6. Transfer back to the hotel
  7. Dinner

Day 8

  1. Breakfast at Panama Garden Resort or Similar
  2. A short walk around Moshi town
  3. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect with your flight back home or with a local flight to Zanzibar
  4. Note: while most hotels have a 10:00 AM check-out policy, they also offer late check-out for those with evening or night flights. The fees are moderate.
